Registering for Free School Meals means Chosen Hill School will receive more money.
For children entitled to free school meals the Government has said that schools will get an extra £488 funding per student per year, this ‘premium’ will make a real difference to the school. Schools will be allowed to choose exactly how the extra money should be used, for example, we may spend it on extra-curricular provision or increasing access to our one-to-one tuition.
Cllr Jackie Hall, Gloucestershire County Council Cabinet Member for Schools, said: “The pupil premium is designed to help the most disadvantaged children and the extra funding could make a real difference to your child and their school. So even if you don’t want your child to have school lunches every day, it’s still important to apply if you are eligible, and it’s very easy to do.”
Children on free school meals can still choose to have packed lunches brought from home every day, or can choose to have a school meal only on days when they like the menu choices. Registering for free school meals does not mean your child has to have school meals every day. So even if you prefer to give them packed lunches, it is important to apply and bring in extra income for the school.
